WHERE WOULD THE WORLD BE WITHOUT THE BLACKS

This is the story of a little girl named Rita who woke up one morning and asked her mother, Mom, what if there were no black people in the world"? Well, her mother thought about that for some moments and then said, ''Now, go, get dressed and we will get started''. Rita ran to her room to put on her clothes and shoes. Her mother look at her and said, Rita, where are your shoes? And those clothes are rumpled'' Rita realised that she needed to iron them but when she reached for the ironing board, it was no longer there. ''You see, Sarah Boone, a black woman, invented the ironing board and Jan E., Lace machine'' said her mother. Oh! Well, she said, please go and do something to your hair''. Rita ran to her room to comb her hair, but the comb wasn't there. Walter Sammons, a black man, invented the comb. Rita decided to just brush her hair but the brush was gone. Lydia O. Newman, a black female, invented the brush. Well, this was a sight, no shoes, rumpled clothes, hair in a mess. ''Without the invention of madam C.J. would you get the picture? Mom told Rita, ''Let's do our chores around the house and then take a trip to the grocery''. Rita was to sweep the floor. She swept and swept and when she reached for the dust pan, it was not there. You see, Lloyd P. Ray, a black man invented the dust pan.'' So she swept her dirt in a corner and left it there. She then decided to mop the floor, but the mop was gone. Thomas W. Stemwart, a black man invented the mop, Rita yelled out to her mom,'' i am running out of luck!'.

Mon asked Rita to go and get a pencil and some papers to prepare the list for the grocery store. So Rita ran for the paper and pencil and noticed that the pencil lead was broken!. Well, she was out of luck again because John love, a black man, invented the fountain pen. It's a matter of fact, that Lee Burridge invented the typewriting machine. Rita and her mother decided to head to the market. When Rita opened the door, she noticed the grass was as high as she was tall, Now she noticed the lawnmower was invented by John Burr; a black man. They made haste over to their car and found that it just wouldn't go. 

You see, Richard Spikes, a black man, invented the automatic gear box and Joseph Gamniel invented the super change system for internal combustion engine. Well, it was getting late so they returned home. Just when they put away the milk, eggs and butter, they noticed that the refrigerator was gone. John Standard, a black man invented the refrigerator. So they left the food on the counter. By this time, Rita noticed she was getting mighty cold. 

Mom went to turn on the heater and do you know Alice Parker, a black woman invented the heating furnace so it wasn't there. Even in summer, they would have been out of luck because Jones; a black man, invented the air conditioner. It was almost time for Rita father to arrive home. He usually took a bus ride home, but there was no bus because its precursor was the electric trolley invented by another black man, Elbert R. Robinson. 

He also usually dropped off by the office at a nearby mail box but it was no longer there because Philip Pawing, a black man, invented the post marketing and counselling machine. Rita and her mother sat at the kitchen table with their heads in their hands when the father arrived. 

He asked "Why are you sitting in the dark"! "The situation is so because St. Lewis Howard Latimer, a black man invented the filament with light bulb", replied her mother. Rita quickly learned what it would be like if there were no black people in the world not to mention if she were ever sick and needed blood transfusion. 

Charles Prew, a black scientist, found a way to preserve and store blood which led to his starting the world's first blood bank. And what if a family member had to have a heart surgery? This would not have been possible without Dr. Daniel Hale Williams, a black doctor, who performed the first open heart surgery.

So if you ever wonder like Rita where we would be without " US", well, its pretty plain to see we would still be in the dark.
