A shocking and distressing event unfolded last night at Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River, as armed Fulani kidnappers stormed the college premises at around 8:00 PM. 

The attackers abducted several individuals, including both students and non-students. In a brave attempt to escape, one of the victims managed to flee but sustained injuries in the process.

This tragic incident has brought to light severe security and infrastructural challenges faced by the students and staff of the college, which resulted to the publishing of An Open letter to the Governor Enugu By Comr. Emmanuel chisom an Alumni of the Great Institution on his Facebook page.

Passionate Appeal: Urgent Appeal for Security and Infrastructure Improvements at Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your urgent attention a deeply concerning incident that occurred at the Enugu State College of Health Technology Oji River on the night of 14th August 2024. At approximately 8:00 PM, a group of armed Fulani kidnappers invaded the college premises, abducting several individuals, both students and non-students. Tragically, one of the victims managed to escape but sustained significant injuries in the process.

This incident has highlighted several critical challenges that the students and staff of our institution face on a daily basis, including:

1. Poor Road Infrastructure: The lack of good roads within and around the college premises has made it difficult for security personnel and emergency services to respond quickly in times of crisis.

2. Lack of Perimeter Fencing: The absence of a secure perimeter fence around the college has left students vulnerable to external threats, including criminal elements.

3. Inadequate Learning Environment: The college lacks a conducive environment for learning, with dilapidated facilities and insufficient resources that are necessary for academic success.

4. Security Deficiency: The lack of adequate security measures, including surveillance systems and security personnel, has left students and staff in constant fear for thetheir safety.

Your Excellency, the students and staff of Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River, are appealing for your immediate intervention. We respectfully request the following:

- The swift construction and repair of roads leading to and within the college to ensure ease of access for security and emergency services.

- The erection of a secure perimeter fence around the college to prevent unauthorized access and enhance the safety of students and staff.

- Improvement of the learning environment through the renovation of existing facilities and provision of necessary resources to promote academic excellence.

- The deployment of adequate security personnel and installation of surveillance systems to safeguard the lives and property of students, staff, and visitors.

Additionally, we implore you to call upon the top officials of the Defense Military to urgently intervene in the ongoing kidnapping situation, ensuring the safe return of those abducted and the arrest of the perpetrators.


Your Excellency, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah  we trust in your commitment to the welfare and security of the people of Enugu State, particularly the youth, who represent the future of our great state. We humbly seek your intervention to restore peace and security to our institution and to create an environment where students can learn and thrive without fear.
