Manchester United defeated Leicester City 2-1 with two defeats and four winners

Manchester United’s win in the FA Cup fourth round has done little to please Ruben Amorim.

Despite watching his team complete a comeback, Ruben Amorim was negative post-match, stating it was a ‘bad day’ for Manchester United.

Old Trafford was not treated to a classic, with United’s first-half set-up being slammed by Paul Scholes.

Such a poor first 45 minutes forced Amorim into a half-time change with Patrick Dorgu’s impressive debut cut short.

The 2-1 win over the Foxes did see some standout performances for United – with a number of winners and losers emerging from the game.

Winners

Starting with the winners…

The big winner and spotlight grabber on Friday night was Harry Maguire.

Maguire scored the winner for United in the 93rd minute right in front of the Stretford End, leading to euphoric celebrations.

Under Amorim, Maguire has been a man re-born and every week the decision to extend his contract looks like a smart one.

Another winner for United was Alejandro Garnacho, with his introduction from the bench being a game-changer.

Garnacho’s direct dribbling caused Leicester real problems, and he looked like the most dangerous player on the pitch.

Winning the man of the match award, Garnacho played a key part in the equaliser. United will be increasingly relieved Garnacho wasn’t sold.

With United failing to sign a striker in the transfer window, United’s current forwards have been dealt a big opportunity.

Joshua Zirkzee grabbed this with both hands as he impressed with his 26-minute cameo.

Zirkzee not only scored but also looked much sharper and quicker than he had in previous weeks, which hopefully means he has turned a corner.

The final name on our winners’ list is Leny Yoro – with the 19-year-old centre-back improving week after week.

Yoro looked so confident as he continued to adapt to English football, with his talent evolving and developing.

The signs are impressive around Yoro and it’s exciting to see him improving after a ropey start.

Now, the losers from the game…

With Zirkzee putting his name in the headlines, Rasmus Hojlund is almost certainly set to see his position in the hierarchy drop.

The Dane was disappointing against Leicester, with the fewest touches of any player despite playing the entire 90 minutes.

Hojlund offers less than Zirkzee, and this game showed it. If the Dutchman can perform at this level weekly, Hojlund stands no chance.

The second loser from the game on our list is Diogo Dalot, as the wing-back was once again a frustrating sight for fans.

Amorim is also to blame, but Dalot playing on the left simply cannot happen going forward—he offers nothing in that position.

Going forward, Dalot should not start as a wingback. Dorgu should be left and Amad Diallo on the right.
