The PlayStation Network (PSN) has been experiencing a prolonged outage that began on Friday evening, leaving thousands of gamers unable to access online services. The disruption has affected a wide range of PlayStation services, impacting users across multiple regions.

According to Sony’s official PSN status page, key services such as account management, gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, the PlayStation Store, and the PlayStation Direct website are all facing issues. As a result, players have been unable to sign in to their accounts, make purchases, or access online multiplayer features.

While offline gameplay remains unaffected, the outage has severely impacted online games that require an internet connection to function. Popular titles such as Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, and Marvel Rivals have become inaccessible to users trying to connect to their servers. This has led to widespread frustration, especially for those who had planned to participate in in-game events and promotions over the weekend.

On its official support webpage, PlayStation acknowledged the outage, stating that it is aware of the issue and actively working to resolve it as soon as possible. However, Sony has not provided an estimated timeline for when services will be fully restored.

According to DownDetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, the outage began just before midnight on Friday night, with over 71,000 users reporting the issue. Reports of connectivity problems continued to flood the site well into Saturday, suggesting that the outage is ongoing.

The problem has sparked a wave of complaints on social media platforms, where frustrated players have shared their experiences and demanded answers from Sony. PlayStation's official support accounts on Twitter (X) and other platforms have been inundated with messages from users across the globe, many of whom are still unable to access their accounts or play their favourite games online.

The timing of the outage has been particularly frustrating for Call of Duty players, as it coincided with a promotional weekend event offering double XP in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. With servers down, many gamers have been unable to take advantage of this limited-time opportunity, further fueling the backlash against Sony.

As of now, Sony has not provided any specific details regarding the cause of the outage. Whether it is due to technical failures, server overload, or a potential cyberattack remains unclear. However, the company has assured users that engineers are working diligently to restore full functionality to the PlayStation Network.

Gamers are advised to keep an eye on Sony’s official channels, including the PlayStation Network status page, for further updates on the situation. In the meantime, PlayStation users can continue to play offline games while waiting for Sony to resolve the widespread network issues.
