The German Government, in collaboration with the West African Science Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), is offering a fully funded scholarship to students from eligible West African countries for the 2025/2026 academic session.

This prestigious scholarship supports Master’s studies in Energy and Green Hydrogen (IMP-EGH), hosted at various West African universities and in Germany. It covers tuition, living stipends, accommodation, research budget, travel, and more.

About the WASCAL Scholarship

The WASCAL scholarship aims to develop climate and energy experts by providing top-tier academic training through the International Master’s Programme in Energy and Green Hydrogen (IMP-EGH). Sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the program targets candidates from all 15 ECOWAS member states.

This initiative is a crucial step toward empowering future leaders to address climate change, energy challenges, and sustainable development in West Africa.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

Be citizens of one of the 15 ECOWAS member states.

Hold at least a Second Class Upper Division (BSc) degree or equivalent in a relevant field.

Possess intermediate English proficiency.

Other ECOWAS nationals may apply on a self-funded basis (based on availability).
